After several years delivering live content in ultra-low latency, we have enhanced all ends of our live streaming workflow resulting in a unique solution for high quality of experience, yet simple deployment and powerful functionalities.
You mean business, so does nanoStream Cloud
Whether you want to monetize you content, or simply enable interaction with your audience, one thing is a fact: you need to create experiences that are engaging, high quality and available on any device, anywhere in the world and over any network.
nanoStream Cloud integrates all the necessary technology to achieve that and ensure you will be covered 24/7 and with 100% uptime.
So, what is nanoStream Cloud 2022 all about?
🌐 Expanded Global Content Delivery Network
Delivering content anywhere in the world, to any audience size has been a commonly accepted, must have requirement for interactive live streaming for a while. Hence nanoStream Cloud is not only based on a self-managed Content Delivery Network with dynamic auto-scaling. With more than 60 datacenters in 7 geo locations and over 1,000 Servers worldwide, it comes with a reliable infrastructure including servers in remote areas for hostile environments. Our network is more resilient against possible issues with improved automatic failover based on our multi-cloud approach and are now at 100% uptime as of today. 🚀 Adaptive Player For Ultra-Low Latency
For a change, we would like to look back before getting into the player’s specifics: We entered the market of interactive live streaming in 2016 when our unique H5Live Player pioneered to enable 0.5- to 2-second latency for cross-platform playback on all HTML5 browsers. Since then we have continuously innovated the player and its surroundings and are proud of additional achievements that are part of our 2022 release like Adaptive Bitrate Playback, sub-second latency and improved usability.
Here is a short list of the latest updates to our nanoStream Player:
- Sub-second latency: with the new latency control mode, you can easily achieve and maintain sub-second latency. Watch this video to learn how you can do that.
- Adaptive Bitrate Playback: you audience can be anywhere, therefore you need to be prepared to deliver your streams under different conditions. With our ABR technology, you ensure your viewers will get the best experience possible to their available network. Learn more technical details in our documentation.
- Easy stream group configuration: improving the experience of your viewers is our priority, yet we want to make it as easy as possible for you and your team to do that. Now within the player configuration it is possible to configure an entire set of ABR streams by passing only the corresponding bintu Stream Group ID via the player source configuration. This allows a much easier configuration for ABR playback. Watch the tutorial How to Set up Stream Groups – here or go to our documentation.
- Enhanced usability for secure streaming: for easier implementation, we have added support for the new secure playback using JSON Web Token (JWT). This is specially interesting for customers using ABR streaming.
📊 Advanced Analytics For End-t0-End Observability
Understanding your stream performance and your viewers is key to creating successful interactive experiences. nanoStream Analytics is that part of our solution that offers analysis of streaming, displayed for the administration on the stream provider’s end: Where is a stream accessed from, information regarding traffic (usage/ playout/ ingest), ABR profiles (latency, play/buffer ratio) and for categories there is a world map provided. By understanding your live streams, you can boost viewer engagement and improve experience, efficiency and profitability. Discover how to use our Analytics in this video tutorial.
Now, to allow operators to better observe the performance of their streamed content, we upgraded nanoStream Analytics with an enhanced data logging and search backend. Customers will gain improved insights on streaming performance and respective parameters from ingest to playback and the best about it: This benefits not only streaming service but the viewers’ experience.
The newly added breakdowns enable stream providers to better understand changes of latency, playing time or e.g. stream quality, fluctuations and their cause based on respective parameters. Further details can be found in the nanoStream Analytics documentation.
- New Zoom Feature: The new release introduces a new feature that is available for multiple widgets and grants access to additional breakdowns. With one click customers can retrieve more detailed data on the different displayed information: Part of these widgets are e.g. about usage, playout/ingest and maximum concurrent viewers. Read more in our documentation.
- Enhanced API routes: for the H5Live Client Metrics to assess the QoE/QoS. Find out more here.
- Additional client metrics include API support for the webcaster and ABR data, allowing customers to access information on browser, operating system, and bitrate.
What else nanoStream Cloud 2022 entails?

👉 Adaptive streaming for everyone
In addition to our Adaptive Player, we also offer live transcoding to all our customers and test accounts. Big news, but what is it all about actually? With the combination of Adaptive Bitrate Playback and Live Transcoding we enable seamless interactive experiences to a wider audience.

👉 Enhanced stream management via API and dashboard
nanoStream Cloud is designed to suit business-critical requirements while offering limitless possibilities of integration seamlessly. Our comprehensive set of APIs is for those who want to personalise, automate, scale and adapt their video workflow.
On the other hand, the nanoStream Cloud Dashboard is for those who want to start streaming quickly. Here you can create and manage streams with ease and enjoy not only a cool, sleek design, but also intuitive usability: Streams can be created easily, the ingest from the RTMP Live Encoder can be managed, secure token playback can be set up and more. Now with the brand new Dashboard 3.0, next to a smoother user experience, we offer improved workflows and better navigation. Plus: There is light and dark mode.

👉 Stream security
Our new security service included in nanoStream Cloud checks suspicious access and detects irregularities like usage and timing. Suspicious behavior, IP and referral blocking can be managed via the Analytics Dashboard in nanoStream Cloud for your content protection. This enables operators to protect their content actively against misuse.
nanoStream Cloud is created with security and encryption enabled by default. It supports secure access and REST APIs, content encryption, secure access with web hooks and as mentioned before, secure playback tokens.
- Web hooks for playback protection, Referal blocking Content encryption, auto-detection.
- Secure Playback Tokens
👉 Flexible architecture
The first mile of your streaming workflow plays an important role to achieve a high quality of experience. For that reason, nanoStream Cloud offers flexible ingest with all major protocols: RTMP, SRT, WebRTC and WHIP.
The 2022 release introduced SRT targeting a more reliable ingest for better connectivity in remote areas and bad networks. That means you can be streaming your live event from a place where there is no server closeby, yet your streams will be sent to the closest server location reliably and stable.
On the other hand, the recently launched WHIP is a simplified ingest protocol that allows ingesting from additional environments (software like: Unity 3D, UnrealEngine).
We extend the idea of a simplified protocol and enable switching of ingest destinations while a webcast is running. Customers wont need to stop/start a stream on the client side anymore, but they can “toggle” where a stream is send to. This is specially good for public/private stream use cases.
