At NAB 2022, nanocosmos presents nanoStream Cloud Release 2022, the new generation of the ultra-low latency live streaming platform and API
The Berlin-based company nanocosmos presents breakthrough innovations including the expanded content delivery network, the browser-based player with sub-second latency and extended analytics at the NAB Show 2022 in Las Vegas, April 23-27, West Hall – W10813.
With a continuously high demand for virtual interaction worldwide, the interactive live streaming solution nanoStream Cloud hit major milestones addressing sub-second latency and accessibility via any device, browser and network. Now, the latest innovations of the comprehensive solution made of Global Network (CDN), Player and extended analytics, culminate in one, all new version of interactive live streaming: nanoStream Cloud Release 2022. It serves a wider range of interactive use cases than before while still covering increased requirements for businesses to provide streaming which is in line with their business goals.
For one, when looking at the increased importance of virtual interaction, a new level of interactive live streaming is due. Interactive live streaming serves a broad range of scenarios – some of which exist due to restrictions or, equally valid, for convenience. Next to commonly used scenarios for interactive live streaming like Webcasts, Online Gaming, Online Auctions, or Live Retail there are now also new ones that require live streaming with ultra-low latency such as interactive events, hybrid events, concerts with audience engagement and virtual VIP fan rooms, town hall meetings with Q&A etc.
Secondly, a technical solution is needed that covers business-centric features and components under one roof, so that corporations can integrate the complex workflow of interactive live streaming easily. Along with simple white-label integration and compliance to international legal regulations like GDPR, nanoStream Cloud 2022 offers a new level of virtual interaction with large audiences around the world: The enhanced version of the well-established combination of Global Network (CDN), browser-based Player and Analytics enables sub-second live streaming with higher Quality of Service and Quality of Experience.
New nanoStream Player to achieve and maintain sub-second latency
Additionally introduced features of the nanoStream Player include a new user focused interface with a modern design as well as easy configuration. The most significant improvement on the player’s side is the technology to further reduce latency and to further improve the overall quality of service as well as the quality of experience which now depends on use case and its specific set-up. The new player identifies the regularity of the stream and adapts its configuration according to the device and network environment. There will be different modes that can be used: The latency adjust mode or the latency control mode.
Technical Advancement: Stream Protection
Since the demand for real-time live streaming platforms that enable interactivity on mobile devices started, nanocosmos has been heavily engaged serving businesses to enable audience engagement around the world. Next to the player with Adaptive Bitrate, a global CDN, and analytics to improve quality of service, nanocosmos makes content security and secure live streaming 2022’s top priorities for its product development. Stream protection against misuse is an integral part of nanoStream Cloud and creates added value to the ultra-low latency live streaming platform. It can detect streaming irregularities based on factors such as the time a stream runs. To avoid hijacking of streams the new security service included in nanoStream Cloud checks suspicious access and detects irregularities like usage and timing. nanoStream Cloud is created with security and encryption enabled by default. It supports secure access and REST APIs, content encryption, secure access with web hooks and token-based access for certain application scenarios.
Data-driven Live Streaming: Extended Analytics for business intelligence
To provide business customers greater insight into their live streaming data and to allow them to make the right decisions quickly nanocosmos launched extended nanoStream Analytics, available as an ad-on of nanoStream Cloud. The new release covers a range of new features and improvements in regard to the client focused API that was introduced with nanoStream Analytics 2.11. For monitoring and alerting purposes, it is now possible to directly access metrics about the ingested video and audio bitrate. For the best quality of experience on the player side, the stability of the ingested stream is a critical factor. Significant fluctuations of the bitrate can be an indicator for an unstable stream. Further details can be found in the nanoStream Analytics documentation.
Industry related technology upgrades and innovations
Next to the improved latency and new features for better quality of service and viewers’ experience, new industry standards are served by the following new ad-ons that were added to nanoStream Cloud: WHIP for WebRTC based ingest and SRT protocol to better support professional broadcast environments and remote ingest locations.
nanoStream Cloud live demos are available to see at the NAB booth.
