How to use nanocosmos Live Video Encoder with Wowza for Live Encoding and Web Streaming

This article describes the nanocosmos Live Video Encoder Desktop Application. If you would like to know how to use the Web Application, look here.
 

Requirements

  • Windows PC (XP, 7, whatever)
  • Live Video Source available as a video capture device (Webcam, HDMI, Firewire, …)
  • Wowza Media Server (www.wowzamedia.com)
  • nanocosmos Live Video Encoder (LiveVideoEncoder.exe)
  • Playback Application (e.g. Flash)

 

Live Video Encoder Desktop Application

Windows based native application for live encoding and streaming

  1. Startup the Wowza Server server
    If you do not have your own streaming server setup please see:
    Set up Wowza Media Streaming Server on your local computer
  2. Hook up webcamera to PC
  3. Download and install nanocosmos Live Video Encoder SDK (LiveVideoEncoder.exe)
  4. Startup Live Video Encoder Application
  5. Configure nanocosmos Encoder Settings (H.264 / RTMP / Resolution / Bitrate)

    1. Select your video and audio capture devices (camera/microphone)
    2. Output Stream/File
      Note: for RTMP streaming, separate the URL and Stream Name with a “+” sign!
      Examples:
      – rtmp://localhost/live+myStream
      – or enter your RTMP Server URL – rtmp://[your-wowza-adress]/live+myStream
  6. Start “Preview” and Start “Stream”

Playback

To play using Adobe Flash player open live.html web page:
Start/programs/nanocosmos/LiveVideoEncoder/player/FlashPlayer (H.264-RTMP)
and enter the information below and click Play button:

Server: rtmp://[wowza-adress]/live
Stream: myStream
