Which video and MPEG formats does nanocosmos support?
With nanocosmos MPEG Tools you may create several types of MPEG1 and MPEG2 formats, for example VCD, SVCD, MPEG1, MPEG-2 DVD, MPEG2-MP@ML, HDTV, Transport Streams

My MPEG files do not play back anymore on my PC. What do I do wrong?
| ||||||||||||||||
nanocosmos might install it's own MPEG-2 video decoder. This decoder may be incompatible with other applications. You can deinstall the decoder by calling regsvr32 /u nmpvdec.ax (decoder version 1) or nmpvdec2.ax (decoder version 2) or by just deleting or renaming the file.

How do I play back my MPEG files with an external DVD / Video CD player?
| ||||||||||||||||
Video CD files created with nanocosmos encoder applications can be burned to a CD-R with a CD burning application in VideoCD-mode, e.g. WinOnCD, Nero, VOB. The created VideoCD may be played back in "most" current DVD players.
SuperVideoCD is also supported by most CD burning applications, the MPEG
Streams in SVCD mode can be imported there. |

What is the difference between m1v, m2v, mpa, mpg, vob?
| ||||||||||||||||
These file extensions are not standardized, but commonly used.
m1v means "MPEG-1 Video", i.e. a file which only contains a
so called elementary video stream, without any audio. |
How is file size / compression influenced?
| ||||||||||||||||
The main compression setting is the "bit rate" which means how many bits per second a stream is running. You can adjust the bit rate in the encoder settings. |
Why does encoding not work at all (Why get I a (black/green/scrambled)
picture?)
| ||||||||||||||||
Probably the input signal is incompatible because it is precompressed with an unsupported codec. In MPEG SoftEngine, try changing the options "Use DirectShow" or "Use internal codecs" in Tools/Options. |
What is the difference between those MPEG-Formats like DVD, SVCD, VCD?
| ||||||||||||||||
VCD is MPEG-1 based, DVD and SVCD are MPEG-2 based.
