MPEGEngine

MPEGEngine is a software based video compression application, developed for the professionell use in studio-, tv- and broadcast-departments. It was one of the first MPEG encoding applications on market. It supports full MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding and decoding functionality according to ISO-13818, including TV, HDTV and Transport Streams.

MPEGEngine is a cooperation between nanocosmos, Optibase, DVC und Fujitsu-Siemens.

For the „Triennale der Photographie“ 1999, (Exhibition Deichtorhallen Hamburg) nanocosmos IT GmbH developed a computernetwork for the association [kunst und technik] which gives a possible vision of the future world of communication. This innovative project comines new multimedia-technology such as video-server, live broadcast and mobile networks.

16 simultanous mobile units based on common PC technology. One of the first projects showing Wireless LAN video streaming, which attracted attention by the public at presentations in Amsterdam (IBC – FairTV), Hanover (CeBit).

Interactive Teleconference / Facial Animation

Development of a facial animation system with synthetic speech output during research work at HHI (Heinrich-Hertz-Institut Berlin).

Facial Animation is a integral part of the MPEG-4 standard. It can be used for synthetic natural hybrid coding purposes in 3D worlds.

Studies were made for integrating two handed interaction methods.

Virtual Space Station

Ziel dieses Projektes ist eine möglichst realitäts¬nahe Abbildung einer Raumstation und anderer realer Räume in eine künstlich generierte virtuelle Welt. Dem Anwender soll die Möglichkeit gegeben werden, die Station per Computer selbst zu erforschen und dabei auf andere Besucher zu stoßen und mit ihnen Kontakt aufzunehmen.

Die Implementierung erfolgt auf einer handelsüblichen Workstation oder auf einem Highend-PC unter Ausnutzung neuester technischer Standards. Mit Hilfe der Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) ist es möglich, das System beliebig zu erweitern und andere Räume wie Clubs, Veranstaltungsorte, usw. hinzuzufügen und z.B. von dort aus Veranstaltungshinweise, Videoclips, etc. abzurufen.

Dieses Projekt wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem c-base e.V. (www.c-base.de) und dem Veranstalter nightingale als Vorschlag zur Begleitung der Internationalen Funkausstellung durchgeführt.

Wireless Revolution

In einem Forschungsprojekt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Institut für Halbleiterphysik in Frankfurt/Oder werden Konzepte für die Benutzerschnittstellen von drahtlosen Kommunikationsgeräten erarbeitet und im fast-prototyping-Verfahren getestet.
