New Premium Solutions from Nanocosmos for Encoding and Streaming HD Video

Streaming goes 3D: Premiere for Real-Time Video Encoders – also for 3D Stereoscopy

Berlin, March 1, 2010 – nanocosmos Informationstechnologien GmbH , a company specializing in software coding and streaming, will be presenting two high-end multimedia encoders at this year’s CeBIT (Hall 16, Booth C 31/2). The coding experts have developed both the nanoStream Live Media Encoder, premium software for processing video and audio files, and the nanoStream 3D Live Video Encoder, which also allows real-time encoding of stereoscopic HD videos. All components have been optimized for high-end use and can be licensed as software development kits (SDKs) for use by OEMs, studios and developers.

The nanoStream Live Media Encoder is a new, high-performance coding solution that streams video and audio data in real time to media servers and other network clients. The software also allows network streaming to RTMP-compatible streaming servers such as the Flash Media Server or Wowza. This thus makes processing for mobile terminals such as the iPhone possible. In addition, the encoder supports UDP broadcast and multicast modes for HD video streaming. The software is also suitable for professional applications such as digital signage, video broadcasting, post-production as well as mobile and medical applications.

Hyper-realistic streamed video in 3D stereoscopy

The nanoStream 3D Live Video Encoder makes it possible to capture and encode stereoscopic HD videos. Several camera perspectives are first recorded in a stereoscopic 3D process. This data is then processed, coded, streamed and displayed on various terminal devices in parallel. Supported 3D stereoscopic modes include e.g. the polarization method with interlaced video data used in 3D cinemas as wells as autostereoscopic displays and anaglyph methods. High-quality encoding using H.264 and MPEG-2 modes allows an extremely realistic viewing experience of live content and video material in 2D and 3D.

Modular architecture with platform-independent approach

The nanoStream coding components are used in particular for encoding in H.264, MPEG and WMV videos and for streaming to flash-based streaming servers. There is also a special streaming mode available for low delay times for HD video communication with MPEG-2 over UDP.

The high-performance 2D and 3D encoders are based on applications and plug-ins for all popular Internet browsers and are available as ready-to-use installation kits. Their modular architecture is based on DirectShow and is available as an SDK. The encoding and streaming software for live videos can be licensed for developers and post-production studios owing to its platform-independent approach like all products from nanocosmos and can be easily embedded in existing customer applications.
